Relatives come to you only when you have the riches.

This is similar to frogs, which come in hordes only when the lakes are filled to the brim.

tappimchuka tirugu vaadu dhanyuDu sumatee


He is blessed, who talks relevantly and precisely.

This will not cause mental disturbance to others,and also does not

result in mental stress to self.

mrokkina varameeni velpu, moharamuna, taa
nekkina baarani gurramu,
grakkuna viduvanga valayu, gadaraa sumati !



A relative who does not help in times of need

A God who does not bless us with a boon even after prayers,

A horse which refuses to run,

All these should be quickly got rid off.

choppada kunnatti ooru chorakumu sumatee.



Look for these basic minimum requirements before settling at a place.

The place should have:

A person who will lend money(when required)
A doctor to treat
Plenty of water
and a wise person.

Do not enter a place lacking in these facilities says Baddena.

Balavantuda nakemani
paluvurato nigrahimchi palukuta mela
balavantamaina sarpamu
chali cheemala cheta chikki chavade sumatee !

"I am the strongest.I do not bother about anybody".Is it good to make such statements?
Remember, even a mighty serpent gets killed by ants.

Lotus flower blooms in the morning as sun appears.Hence sun is described as a friend of lotus.However the same sun burns the lotus once it is taken out from the water.So is the case with humans.Once,they lose their position or authority,the friends desert them,and even become enemies.One should guard against this behaviour says Baddena-author of Sumati satakam.

I have not come across better poetry than Sumati satakam.It has poetic beauty and is
unparalleled in explaining the nuances of daily living and also enunciating
morals.

1.Sri ramuni daya chetanu
narudhiga sakala janulu naura yanaga
dharalamaina nitulu
noruraga javul putta nudiveda sumatee !

By the grace of Lord SriRama I am going to utter, unfettered morals which will surely be appreciated by one and all.These morals will sweeten the tongue and leave good taste.
